Community Prayer Service for Hurricane Rita

Thursday, September 22, 7:00pm at the San Marcos Activity Center

A community prayer meeting has been scheduled for Thursday at 7:00pm at the San Marcos Activity Center to pray for God's help with Hurricane Rita. We want to gather together as a community of believers to ask God to move or stop this hurricane in order to save the lives of those in its path. As it stands, Hurricane Rita is already the 5th most powerful Atlantic storm on record and has the potential for incredible devistation along the gulf coast.

Please join FOSM along with other believers from around the community as we cover our state in prayer and ask for God's help.

Trip Postponed!

Due to RITA now reaching CAT 5 status, we have had to postpone our first trip to affected areas. We are very sad for this change, but we all feel like it is what God wants us to do. After Rita comes through, we will reschedule our trip.

Katrina Response

By now, you are all aware of the horrible disaster that has taken place in Louisiana and around the gulf. Our church has a planned response. Please take a few moments to read this email, and respond in the way that God is leading you.

Item donations are being accepted by Cathy Carranco. Please give her a call at (512) 396-3240 if you have items of clothing to donate.

Monetary donations can be given during the offering on Sundays. 100 percent will go to disaster relief.

We are trying to adopt a church in Louisiana and help it rebuild. Our philosophy is that our efforts will be multiplied if we can help a church in Louisiana get back on it's feet so it can serve it's own community. Our first trip to the region will most likely be on or around September 21. You can contact Rachel Thornton at (512) 396-8856 for more information.

Our local Baptist association, the Bluebonnet Baptist Association, is operating a disaster relief truck in Beaumont. They will be serving about 10,000 meals a day. If you would like to help out with them, call Alex Powell 830-935-2184 or 830-660-4121 (cell).

To serve at Kelly AFB in a kitchen set up by Texas Baptist Men Disaster Relief, call San Antonio Baptist Association at 210-525-9954 (Pat Ward is scheduling these volunteers). This would be a great project for your Home Team to undertake.

Now is the time for the Church to "be the Church!" God bless each of you as follow Jesus to the hurting, the hopeless, and the displaced.

Pastor Randy
